Egyptians' expenditure pattern during FY 2010/ 2011 showed a decline of expenditure on food and beverage to reach 35.4 % down from 44.1 % in 2008/ 2009. That was revealed in a survey of CAPMAS - Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, quoted in the media, indicating the decline was accompanied by increases in the expenditure on house rental and related auxiliaries, on health care services, also on communication and transportation services.
Expenditure on those four items increased in 2010/ 2011 to 19.4 %, 9.6 %, 6.3 % and 2.8 % respectively up from 17.3 %, 6.5 %, 4.2 % and 2.5 % in 2008/ 2009. With regards disposal on electric and other durable household appliances, survey showed that 90 % of households have a color T.V. set, 91.2 % have a refrigerator, 20.6 % have an automatic washing machine, 6.5 % have an air conditioner, 43.1 % have a water heater (electric or gas fired) and 18.8 % have a vacuum cleaner. Report has further showed that 6.1 % of households has their own passenger vehicle, 40.5 % subscribers to a stationary telephone line, 85.8 % owners of a mobile telephone set, 22.1 % owners of a computer/ laptop and 7.9 % users of Internet. |
