Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Mahmoud Eissa has met with a delegation of the Egyptian Banks Union to follow up an agreement meant to resolve financial and technical problems of closed plants. A ministry statement said on 18/05/2012 that an agreement was reached on the establishment of a review committee grouping the heads of banks to find solutions to defaulters' problems.
The committee is set to convene every two weeks to follow up the issue, the statement added. The committee will hold a meeting early in June, according to the statement. Meanwhile, Chairman of the National Bank of Egypt and Banks Union Tarek Amer said that the banking sector is still taking positive measures for reforming Egypt's economic situation at present, through supporting and re-operating the closed plants. Amer added that all problems have to be solved with all ministries and government departments to ease the burdens facing defaulters in this critical stage.
