His Majesty King Abdullah II welcomed a Chinese delegation led by member of the politburo of the Communist Party of China Wang Yang and discussed prospects for forging closer economic ties between the two countries. The King said Jordan looked forward to increasing Chinese participation in vital economic sectors, namely transport and railways, energy and water. Yang, who is also Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said his country is interested in closer economic ties and infrastructure projects in the Kingdom. During the meeting, attended by ministers and parliament members, Yang praised the advanced level of relations since the two countries established diplomatic ties 35 years ago, as the trade volume had risen tenfold in the past decade.
