Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzoury, held meeting to follow-up on the bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan, and recognize the executive situation of the land and river connection between both countries. The meeting was attended by Ministers of Planning, Industry, Foreign Affairs, and Transport, General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers, and representative of the Ministry of Defense and National Security.
The meeting tackled the bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan, and the executive situation of the land and river connection between them especially upon the prime minister meeting with the political advisor of the Sudanese President over the last week. The meeting tackled four main axis; Castle-Wady Halfa Road of length 28 km including 24 km inside the Egyptian lands and 4 km inside the Sudanese lands, there is also “coastal road” of length 1080 km at the Egyptian-Sudanese coasts extending to South African. The coastal road is used in transporting goods and commodities. There is also Arkin-Dongola road, Shalateen road, and a cooperation protocol will be signed in the land transport between Egypt and Sudan and the final draft of the project will be completed by 24th June. The protocol includes all operation and cooperation procedures between both countries. Dr. Al-Ganzoury reviewed efforts carried by the transport ministry in implementing land transport projects between Egypt and Sudan, stating that they follow-up on the four main axis, along to West Nile axis from Touski to Arkin at the Egyptian-Sudanese borders of length 110 km inside the Egyptian borders and 360 km inside the Sudanese borders and the Egyptian part will be finished in 30th September. Work is carried in Shalateen-Suhil axis with length 210 km inside the Egyptian lands to be finished by 30th June 2013. The Minister of Transport reviewed another axis for the river connection namely Nile Valley transporting goods and passengers on line starting from Nasser Lake, passing by Aswan to Halfa Valley of length 350 km including 300 km inside the Egyptian lands and 50 km inside the Sudanese one, stating that there are two land points. |
