Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour, met at the sideline of the ongoing 101st Session of the International Labour Conference his Jordanian counterpart Dr. Atef Odhaibat for discussion on ways of boosting joint labour cooperation. The two ministers agreed on the need to activate the UAE-Jordan technical committee formulated under the joint cooperation agreement in manpower.
The Jordanian minister showed interest in the UAE labour experiment especially its initiatives in labour market management. Meanwhile, the UAE minister met with Mauritius Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Mr Shakeel Mohamed, who briefed him his country's experiment of sending workers to the European Union. Ghobash expressed the UAE's interest in developing cooperation with Mauritius within the framework of labour market regulation so as to make the UAE more attractive job destination. The Mauritius minister praised the UAE's initiatives regarding protection of temporary contractual workers' rights. The two sides also voiced their desire to further joint cooperation through memoranda of understanding. |
