Al- Gaznoury Discuses Provision of Main Goods in Ramadan

Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzoury, held meeting to discuss provision of main supply goods in markets over Ramadan month, in attendance of Head of the Holding Co. for Food Industries, Ministers of Agriculture, Planning, Supply, Finance, and Ministers of People’s Assembly and Shoura Councils.

The Minister of Supply presented efforts carried on provision of supply goods especially within coming Ramadan, stating that all main goods including meat, fish, beans, oil, and sugar are provided and exceeding the strategic store, along to increasing importation of yamish Ramadan by 57% compared to the last year. It is worth noting that 6.3 million tons of wheat was imported compared to 5.2 million tons over the last year, and wheat store is enough to coming January.

Preparation for Ramadan, the Minister of Supply said, started last month through cooperation between all authorities and additional quantities of beans will be provided with EGP 6 per kilo and EGP 3 per kilo. He added that prices of main goods will be decreased due to offering more goods, and the food security sector at the Defense Ministry allocated its products of meat to be provided in markets. Rice market is controlled by 5 traders, something which pushed the government to increase barely from 500,000 tons to 750,000 tons and this led to rice price decrease by EGP 500.

The Minister stated that production lines of bakeries and silos will be developed. Regarding the gas cylinders distribution via coupons, the Minister of Supply, confirmed that the system will be continued and it will help reducing butagaz subsidy from EGP 3-4 billion. The Ministry has set supervision plans to monitor markets during Ramadan through the concerned sectors.
