Tunisian President Dr. Mohamed Moncef Marzouki held talks with visiting Qatari Heir Apparent, H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on existing relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in various fields besides discussing a number of regional and international issues during a meeting here at the presidential palace of Carthage.
The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that Sheikh Tamim also held an official session of talks with the Tunisian Premier Hamadi Jebali. Discussions during the meeting reviewed the fraternal relations between the two countries and ways of developing them in various areas, particularly the economic and investment fields, as well as a number of regional and international issues of common concern. After the talks, Sheikh Tamim and the Tunisian Premier witnessed the signing of a protocol and a number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries. A protocol for cultural cooperation in the restoration, rehabilitation and development of archaeological sites and historical monuments in Tunis, and an MoU on encouraging and protecting mutual investments were signed. Also, several MoUs were signed which include Qatar Development Program in Tunisia, cooperation between Qatar's Public Prosecution and Tunisian Ministry of Justice, and on Sraouerten Phosphate Project, along with cooperation in oil refining between Qatar Petroleum International and the Tunisian Government. A memorandum for cooperation between Qatar Electricity and Water Company, and Tunisian Company for Electricity and Gas was also inked. |
