Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzoury, witnessed signing of agreement between Alexandria Tyres Co. and representatives of the company and the trade unions aiming to end strike taken by employees therein which lasted for 50 days and led to losses of EGP 50 million. The company has responded to some legalized demands needed by the employees and referred other demands to the international arbitration. The Minister of Manpower stated that all parties were keen on the general interest and set the company and employees’ interest before any other considerations or personal interest. He added that the crisis was contained through dialogue and approved the payment of additional operation allowance and societal bonus, and other demands will be referred to judiciary.
It was agreed on continuing work intensively to compensate losses carried by the company over strike. Head of the Trade Union confirmed that the crisis was contained due to efforts of the prime minister and his keen on supporting investment without negatively affecting employees’ interests. He stated that employees insisting on compensating losses as soon as possible. CEO of the company expressed his pleasure by such agreement where work will be continued immediately.
