King Abdullah II Holds Talks with Emir of Kuwait

His Majesty King Abdullah II and Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on Sunday held talks on ways of cementing bilateral ties in various domains in addition to latest regional issues, namely Syria. The two leaders stressed bilateral relations and expressed keenness to open further prospects of economic cooperation to serve common interests. The talks dealt with ways of strengthening and activating pan-Arab action, stressing the need to develop Arab cooperation and solidarity to serve the nations' interests. King Abdullah and Sheikh Sabah discussed developments in the Middle East and the peace process, reiterating support to the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights, including freedom, and the establishment of their independent and viable state on their national soil according to the two-state solution. On Syria, the two leaders stressed the need of finding a political solution to the crisis and stop violence and bloodletting and put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people. They welcomed a call by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to hold an extraordinary summit for the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Mecca.

The talks were attended by Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh, Chairman of the Royal Court Riyad Abu Karaki, Minister of Finance Suleiman Hafez, Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, King's Advisor for Tribal Affairs Sharif Fawaz Zabin Abdullah, Director of General Intelligence Department Gen. Faisal Shobaki, Director of the King's Office, Imad Fakhourya and Jordan's Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Kayed. On the Kuwait side, the meeting was attended by Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Nasser al-Sabah, Minister of Defense Sheikh Ahmad Khalid Al-Sabah and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, and Kuwaiti Ambassador in Amman, Hamad Al-Duaij. Sheikh Sabah hosted an official Iftar banquet in honor of His Majesty the King and the accompanying delegation.
