Minister of Telecommunications Hani Mahmoud said on 24/08/2012 that the revenues of the telecommunications sector in Egypt hit EGP 13 billion during the first quarter of fiscal year 2011/2012. The same period witnessed increasing the capacity of telephone exchanges nationwide to 15 million lines, he added. The Minister noted that telephone exchanges in rural areas hit 1,198 in number while the number of companies working in the sector hit 4,758.
