Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations Affairs Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Shamsi received at his office, Australia's ambassador to UAE Pablo Kang. During the meeting, they reviewed a number of topics of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation in the area of nominations to the United Nations and its affiliated bodies. They also reviewed the outcome of the recent visit of the Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr to the UAE during which UAE and Australia signed a cooperation agreement for the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Dr. Al Shamsi hailed the depth of Emirati-Australian relations and noted that UAE is Australia's largest economic partner in the region.
