Egyptian-US Partnership in Energy Projects

Minister of Electricity Mahmoud Balba’a discussed during a meeting with the U.S. businessmen delegation on 11/9/2012 the possibility of investment in establishing partnerships to boost local production of traditional power plants’ equipment. The partnership aims at increasing the local component of windmills to 70% by 2020.

The minister highlighted the effective and fruitful role played by the United States in boosting cooperation with Egypt in various domains. He considered the meeting a good opportunity to increasing the opportunity of cooperation and boosting the spirit of partnership to put the plan set by the electricity sector into effect.

During his meeting with the U.S, delegation that comprises four government representatives and 36 representatives of U.S. companies working in the field of energy, he noted that the U.S. companies will take part in carrying out future projects for the electricity sector through international bidding based on the IPP and the B.O.O systems.
