Prime Minister DR. Hisham Qandil approved to allocate the sum of LE110 million to get rid of garbage. LE 70 million allocated for governorates and LE 40 million for the governorate of Giza, Maj.Gen. Ahmed Zaki Abdin Local Development Minister said flowing the meeting which was attended by governors and officials that the problem of garbage is complicated in greater Cairo because of contracts signed with foreign firms and the low fines stipulated if those firms violated contracts as they did not exceed 10 percent of the value they receive for lifting off garbage of each district.
The minister called for the issue of draft law tightening punishment for people who throw garbage in street so as it reaches high fine and jail terms.
