A UAE-Ukraine joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych's visit to the UAE between 25-27 November. The statement noted that the talks held by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych discussed ways to promote bilateral relations in all spheres, as regional and international issues of mutual concern. "Yanukovych's visit marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Ukraine," the statement said. "The UAE announced that it will open an embassy in Kiev soon as part of efforts to further bilateral relations with Ukraine." His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and President Yanukovych praised the work of the Joint Ukrainian-Emirati Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation which held a number of successful meetings. The talks dealt with the intensifying cooperation and economic relations between the two countries, with a focus on industry, investments, aviation, construction as well as military cooperation.
The Ukrainian President hailed the overall boom of the UAE under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also greeted His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and the UAE leadership on the 41st Anniversary of the National Day. For his part, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan hailed the great achievements made by Ukraine under the leadership of President Yanukovych. Thanking His Highness Sheikh Khalifa for the warm welcome accorded to him during his official visit to the UAE, President Yanukovych invited His Highness Sheikh Khalifa to visit Ukraine. During President Yanukovych's visit to the UAE, a two sides signed signifigant bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding on cooperation on legal mutual assistance on criminal matters, legal mutual assistance on civil and commercial matters and extradition of criminals, on civil aviation services, higher education and scientific research as well as on sports. |
