Advisory Committee on Free Trade Agreements Holds a Meeting

The Advisory Committee on Free Trade Agreements of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, held its third meeting in 2012, at the headquarters of Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, under the chairmanship of the Undersecretary of the Department, Mohammed Omar Abdullah, and in presence of the members of the Committee who represent local departments in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Committee listened to the Assistant Undersecretary of Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Trade (MoFT), Jumna Al Kait, who briefed the meeting on the latest developments of negotiations of free trade between the GCC countries, and the countries of International economic groups, and the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Trade to push these negotiations forward and remove the obstacles that stand in their way.

The Committee discussed the working program for the coming period, which will give the Committee a greater role, to enable it achieve its goals. A number of topics related to free trade agreements were also discussed. The Committee adopted the report on the duties, functions and achievements of the Committee which will be submitted to the Executive Council of the emirate of Abu Dhabi for approval .The report includes a proposed restructuring of the Committee.
