Prime Minister Hisham Qandil witnessed on 16/1/2013 the signing of a contract with SYSTRA of France to propose options to develop the first line of the Metro from Helwan to Marg. National Authority for Tunnels Atta El-Sherbini and the deputy chairman of Systra-Middle East Mahmoud el-Daou inked the agreement. Transport Minister Hatem Abdel-Latif said the contract is worth around 11.8 million pounds to be provided completely from the State budget. He added that his ministry gives priority to the Metro as it's the key to resolve the problem of crowding in Cairo.
