His Majesty King Abdullah II ordered financial aid to impoverished families and provide a total of JD5.4 million to a number of centers and societies across the Kingdom. About 30,000 families from various governorates will benefit from the JD3 million aid as well as in-kind assistance, which reflect the King's keenness to help those families to improve their living conditions. The aid, which aims to alleviate the suffering of poor families, comes instead of the Hashemite Charitable Caravans launched in 2004 to distribute food parcels to underprivileged families in the Kingdom. His Majesty also ordered a financial support of 1.3 million to 1,500 orphans in Gaza Strip. Last year, the King responded to a call by Al Wiam Charitable Society (WCS) in Gaza to support orphans. The King's decision was based on a report submitted by Jordan's field hospital in the coastal enclave, which emphasized the plight of orphans there.
