His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Mohammed Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Malaysian Prime Minister, discussed cooperation and relations between the UAE and Malaysia and ways to support and develop them to serve the mutual interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.
Discussions took place in Putrajaya, where the Malaysian Prime Minister received Sheikh Mohamed and members of his accompanying delegation, which includes H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister The meeting reviewed the friendship between the two countries and the UAE's economic, investment, educational and training boom and discussed joint development projects by the two countries. Present at the meeting were H.H Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Affairs Authority (EAA) and Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouie, Under Secretary of the Crown Prince Court. Mechanisms and steps for reinforcing the unique UAE-Malaysian relations were discussed, based on the keen interest of the leadership of both countries to develop and the existing cooperation and the solid historic friendship to wider horizons. The two sides emphasised the importance that the next stage should see more cooperation in all sectors, working on the exchange of visits, expanding economic relations and providing opportunities for investors to make their contribution to joint projects and initiatives which serve the shared ambitions. They also emphasised the importance of continued consultations, coordination, working on supporting the forging of partnerships between organisations and establishments of both the private and public sectors and benefiting from the economic, investment and industrial experiences of both countries. His Highness the Crown Prince emphasised that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, takes special interest in enhancing relations with states that take interest in human and economic development and provide their peoples with the best capabilities for their welfare and development. He noted that Malaysia has taken essential steps towards establishing its international stature in terms of development. He further noted that the UAE and Malaysia share an interest in reinforcing social and economic development and diversifying their income His Highness Sheikh Mohamed said :" We welcome the standing partnerships between the two countries and Malaysian investments in the UAE and look forward to more developed cooperation and hope that this visit will contribute to introduce the economic and investment partnership to new sectors in order to drive mutual cooperation to the level the two sides aspire for." For his part, Malaysia's Prime Minister, Mohammed Najib Tun Abdul Razak, hailed the outstanding relations between the two countries which, he said, see continuous growth to live up to the aspirations of their friendly peoples. He expressed appreciation for the UAE leadership's continuous support to cooperation between the two countries. He reiterated his country's interest in reinforcing friendship ties and bilateral relations to achieve their mutual interests and enhance their ability to preserve regional and international security and stability. The Malaysian Prime Minister welcomed His Highness the Crown Prince's visit and stressed that it opens up larger avenues for efforts for expanding cooperation between the two countries and finding better opportunities to promote joint action. The meeting also discussed regional and international developments and matters of mutual interest. The meeting followed an official protocol reception for His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed at the Malaysian Cabinet building where he was welcomed by the Malaysian Prime Minister, ministers, senior officials and ambassadors. The national anthems of the UAE and Malaysia were played before Sheikh Mohamed inspected the guard of honour. |
