The UAE parliamentary delegation, led by Dr Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, first deputy speaker of the Federal National Council met with the Argentinean parliamentary delegation headed by Congress member Daniel Jelmos, to discuss the bilateral relations between the UAE and Argentina.
Dr. Al Qubaisi during the meeting, held on the sidelines of the 128th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly, stressed the importance of establishing a Parliamentary Friendship Committee, extending an official invitation to the Argentinean side to visit the UAE in the coming period. On his part, the Argentinean delegation expressed gratitude for the invitation, lauding the role played by Mohammed Eissa Alqatam Alzaabi, Ambassador of the UAE to Argentina in strengthening the relations between the two countries, stating that he hopes that the UAE parliamentary delegation would visit Argentina at some convenient time. Ahmed Obaid Al Mansoori, FNC member, presented UAE proposal on 1st Standing Committee on Peace and International Security to the Argentinean side, in order to obtain their support at the committee's bureau, the proposal dealt with "the role of parliamentarians in reaching an international agreement condemning all detriment of religious and sacred symbols, and establishing reciprocated respect between religions and international civilizations as a requirement for world peace and security". The Argentinean delegation expressed its support for the proposal during the general committee's assembly, as well its intention to put it forth with the Latin Group to gain approval so the proposal can receive the needed support during the Standing Committee's meeting. |
