H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, received in Tokyo Yuriko Koike, member of Japan's House of Representatives and chairwoman of the UAE-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and Koike discussed the activities, objectives and cooperation ties between the UAE and Japan at the official and popular levels. They also explored new horizons to expand the cooperation framework to include various aspects of economic activities, trade and investment. H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, "Japan is a key strategic partner to the UAE in several areas, and we are looking forward to renewing the partnership and pushing it to new horizons in the light of the distinguished relations between the two countries and peoples." The UAE Foreign Minister stressed the future prospects of the partnership between the two countries, and the huge development projects taking place in the UAE, which has adopted a strategy that focuses on the development of human resources and Emirati renaissance at all levels. Sheikh Abdullah underlined the importance of the role played by the UAE-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association in strengthening the friendship between the two countries, especially at the level of business people, as well as taking advantage of existing potentials in both countries so as to create a joint investment climate in various sectors. For her part, Koike expressed her pride at the close relations between the two countries, noting that the UAE has a prominent place with the leadership, government and the Japanese people, where everyone admires the UAE's development experience. She also praised the historical ties of friendship between the UAE and Japan in previous years, and the country's desire to consolidate its relations with the UAE, especially in the fields of renewable energy and environment. Sheikh Abdullah also met the Japanese Minister of Economic Revitalisation, Minister of Total Reform of Social Security and Tax and Minister of Economic and Fiscal Policy, Akira Amari. The two sides discussed the importance of increasing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as expansion of cooperation in both areas. They also exchanged views on many economic, trade and investment issues of common interest. The two meetings were attended by Saeed Ali Yousef Al Nowais, the UAE Ambassador to Japan. |
