Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour returned home after a two-day visit to Sudan, during which he partook in the inauguration of the International Exhibition for Printing and Packaging in Khartoum (Nile Print Expo).
Abdel-Nour said the Egyptian-Sudanese Business Council will be formed next week. He urged Sudan to form its team at the council to start work on the sidelines of the Egyptian-Sudanese Business Committee, slated for April. Addressing the Egyptian-Sudanese Business Forum on 18/3/2014, the minister said the committee meeting will discuss all obstacles to boosting trade and economic relations between Egypt and Sudan. Boosting economic ties with Sudan and developing join investment projects topped the government's priorities, according to Abdel Nour. "We are seeking an economic integration that will serve the interests of both countries," he said, addressing the Egyptian-Sudanese business forum. The past years have witnessed a growth in bilateral ties as investment between both countries hit 840 million US dollars with $7.8-billion-capital projects. Abdel Nour is heading a delegation of Egyptian businessmen and a number of members of the Egyptian Chambers of Commerce. The forum is presenting possible prospects for deepening and expanding joint cooperation between the two countries. For his part, the Sudanese Minister of Industry said his government is keen on resolving all outstanding problems that hinder boosting ties between Khartoum and Cairo. "Both countries have potentials to achieve good bilateral cooperation to lead to new job opportunities for Sudanese and Egyptian youths," he said. |
