Japan and the European Union (EU) will hold the sixth round of negotiations on a bilateral economic partnership pact in Tokyo on July 7-11, the Foreign Ministry announced. At the fifth round of talks ended in April in Tokyo, the two sides exchanged offers on market access of trade in goods, according to the ministry.
They also discussed areas such as trade in goods, trade in services, investment, intellectual property rights, non-tariff measures, government procurement and others. The negotiations for the bilateral free trade agreement were officially launched in March 2013. Japan is the EU's second biggest trading partner in Asia, after China. Together Japan and the EU account for more than a third of the world's GDP, according to the EU. |
