The Suez Canal achieved a daily cargo record of 3.8 million tons as it celebrates its nationalization anniversary. As many as 50 ships transited the international waterway in the north and south bound convoys.
The decision of nationalizing the Suez Canal made by late president Gamal Abdel-Nasser was courageous, said Head of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Memish in a statement. He underlined the security measures taken by the Armed Forces and the police to safeguard the canal. |
