Egypt will host the third summit talks on a establishing a tripartite free trade zone late in 2014, Trade and Industry Minister Munir Fakhry Abdel Nour said. The step comes within the framework of the efforts exerted to boost the opportunities of the Egyptian exports.
This will be the third such a meeting on the issue. The first was held in Uganda in 2008 and the second in South Africa three years later. The Tripartite is an umbrella organization consisting of the East Africa Community (EAC), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). A statement by the Ministry said ON 30/7/2014 the tripartite will allow Egyptian products to tap more African markets. The tripartite agreement also provides alternative markets of imports of raw materials that will also be exempted from customs, the statement added. |
