Prime Minister Ibraim Mahlab has discussed with Supply Minister Khaled Hanafi the availability of basic commodities, the new smart card system for bread distribution and developing the State-owned supermarkets.
"We are working on combating corruption which is deeply rooted in different sectors, especially supply," Mahalb said during the meeting. He added that corruption was hindering the government's efforts but it worked hard to curb it. He ordered establishing a hotline to receive the consumers' complaints and suggestions. For his part, the minister said the State-owned supermarkets had made profit for the first time since they were established. He added that the newly-applied bread distribution system had been proved successful in Cairo, and it would be applied in Giza as of Monday. Hanafi said some 3.7 million tons of wheat had been received from farmers, adding that the current stock was sufficient. |
