Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health, has discussed with Dr. Paulo Portas, Deputy Prime Minister of Portugal, ways to develop mutual cooperation between the ministry and the Portuguese health institutions, especially in the areas of training, development, new technologies in hospitals, medical practices and licensing sector.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the ministry in Dubai, was attended by Fernando Leal da Costa, Secretary of State Assistant to the Minister of Health, Jimmy Van Zeller Laitau, Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal and Dr. Mohammad Salim Al Olama, Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Health. The meeting touched on the possibility of sending patients for treatment to the well known Portuguese specialised hospitals and health centres dealing with chronic diseases and attracting Portuguese talent in various medical specialties as part of the Visiting Doctors Programme, in addition to the possibility of sending Emirati doctors on scholarship to train and continue their higher studies in Portugal. Dr. Paulo Portas expressed his country's readiness to extend complete cooperation to the Ministry of Health in all areas and attract Emirati doctors for education and training, stressing the strong existing relations between the two countries, which necessitates cooperation in all sectors. |
