The first meeting of the GCC-EFTA Joint Committee was held in the Sultanate of Oman. EFTA (European Free Trade Association) includes Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The meeting came to complete the steps taken by the two sides to implement the free trade agreement, which is expected to come into effect this mid-year. The meeting focused on exchanging some documents pertaining to the implementation of the agreement and specifying the duties of the committee in order to remove all hindrances the deal may face in the future.
