The Ministry of Interior (MOI) has warned of car purchases through websites, due to an emergence of new methods of fraud when purchasing cars through websites.
The director of Public Relations and Information department, Maj. Gen. Dr. Mohammed Al-Maraol, said the ministry draws the attention to information received from the ministry of foreign affairs, including an emergence of new methods that expose citizens to scam operations after buying cars through websites, where the crook offers cars at an attractive price for buyers, and then the seller signs a fake contract with the victim, after receiving forged documents and a bank account number bearing a fictitious name of a person or foreign company. He said the ministry warns against being misled by phantom ads that ask the buyer to transfer funds to bank accounts before checking the authenticity of the website, adding that the Saudi embassies are ready to provide advice to the citizens in these situations before transferring amounts of money. |
