Chairman of Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish has said the progress achieved in digging the New Suez Canal project is "miraculous."
In press statements on the sidelines of UAE Minister of State Sultan al Jaber's visit to the New Suez Canal project, Mamish said 98 percent of dry digging was accomplished and 227 million cubic meters of sand were lifted. He added that 140 million cubic meters of wet sand were also removed. Mamish took Al-Jaber in a cruise to inspect the progress of the dredging works in the new project. Mamish pointed out that the New Suez Canal will be equipped with the most modern seamarks and buoys to achieve the highest level of navigational safety to passing ships. During a meeting with Al-Jaber and his accompanying delegation, Mamish said 110 buoys will be installed at the new canal in May and June in addition to guidance and control stations that will be developed across the canal. A main station will be established in Ismailia and the navigation control system at the canal will be developed, Mamish said. |
