Staff Maj. Gen. Kamal Al-Wazir Chief of Staff of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces and General Supervisor of the new Suez Canal project said on 5/5/2015 that the project will witness an important event, which is the start of the first tunnels machines entry to drill shafts for Sinai Canal at a depth of 120 meters.
Al-Wazir pointed out that it is the first time in the world that drilling goes this depth, which aims to secure the transfer of water to the west of the new canal to irrigate lands in Sinai. A press conference will be held on 7/5/2015 to announce the completion of dry drilling and first tunnel machines access to the Al-Salam Canal. |
