Sheikha Fadia Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, the chair of Al-Saad charity for knowledge and scientific research, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) for cooperation to safeguard the environment.
Sheikha Fadia signed the accord on sidelines of the REC annual congress, marking its 25th anniversary, held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest, earlier in the week. The MoU aims at establishing cooperation on joint programs, studies and researches, for long term environmental protection. Kuwaiti Ambassador Dr. Hamad Bou-Rahma, who was present at the signing ceremony, addressed a statement at the conference opening, underlining necessity of such cooperation for expertise swap and aiding Kuwait in resolving climatic problems, such as issues related to industrial waste. The REC is an independent international organisation that was established in 1990 by Hungary, the United States and the European Commission. The organisation is legally based on a charter with over 30 signatories. The REC builds bridges between stakeholders and countries in addressing environmental issues. It seeks to aid governments, non-governmental organisations, international organisations and institutions, and others in environmental decision making. |
