Wheat imports receded this year by 30.3 percent to stand at 1.6 billion pounds against 2.3 billion pounds last year.
In a statement, the Ministry of Supply said the new bread mechanism saved around 1.9 million tons of wheat and huge amounts of flour at about 11 to 12 billion EGP. The statement added that queues for buying bread have disappeared under this mechanism. |
