Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said that the final works in the bottom of the New Suez Canal project will be completed within hours. The remaining work will be completed within 72 hours, Mamish said.
The dredgers in the project site will help coat the canal sides with rocks and improve the conditions of the draught, he added. Egypt will inaugurate the New Suez Canal on August 6, which will massively increase the capacity of the Existing Canal and offer an important chance to boost the country’s economy. Called the Suez Canal Corridor, the 72-kilometer new project involves a 37-kilometer new waterway and deepening and expanding the existing 145-year-old Suez Canal along 35 kilometers. |
