Prime Minister Sherif Ismail delivered greetings of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi to Chinese President Xi Jinping during their meeting on the sidelines of the Chinese-African cooperation forum in Johannesburg, the Cabinet said.
During the meeting, the Egyptian prime minister lauded the deeply rooted relations between the two countries, the Cabinet spokesman said in statements. The next year will mark the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, Ismail said. Ismail praised as historic relations between Egypt and China, stressing its importance for boosting the bilateral ties. He pointed out to Egypt's winning of a non-permanent seat of the UN Security Council, saying that Egypt was looking forward to supporting China to obtain the membership of anti-terrorism committee of the council. The premier also lauded the Chinese president's speech before the opening session of the summit, saying that it embodied the strong African-Chinese ties in various fields. Concerning the development efforts in Egypt, the prime minister said that a package of mega projects have been launched to develop the Suez Canal area, in several fields such as petrochemicals, ports, and logistics services. For his part, President Xi lauded historic ties with Egypt and asserted that his country will work on boosting them. He stressed his country's continued support for Egypt's stability and development efforts. He also asserted the importance of cooperation in fighting terrorism which poses threat in the region. |
