Sharif Ismai Opens The First World Conference of Suez Canal

Engineer Sharif Ismail, chairman of the Council of Ministers stated that the draft project of New Suez Canal was part of an ambitious plan to get the Egyptian economy to track, the starting point for a giant project for the development of the Canal Zone, this in addition to the importance in facilitating the movement of transit trade channel, and to reduce the waiting time to the maximum extent within the channel, including positively reflected on the economics of transport through the Suez Canal to remain always the first choice of world trade.

He said in his speech today morning in the opening of the first World Conference on the Suez Canal, which is to be held under the auspices of Mr. President Abdul Fattah Al-sisi, under the title of (Suez Canal: Challenges and Opportunities) in 22 - 24 February 2016, that the title of this conference is 'Challenges and Opportunities', as Suez Canal is one of the real challenges undergone by Egypt to prove their worth before the world, confirming that the Egyptian people and wise leadership are committed to fulfilling all the objectives.

He added: this is the motto of this crucial period in the history of our nation , geography , economic and political rights for a better future for the coming generations. Major projects in the Canal Zone and others deploy security and safety in the deferral, as we are all blessed by the unique site in the heart of the world, and that Egypt will gather all the investments from countries of the world .

At the end of his speech, Prime Minister: We are pleased that Egypt opens a channel in East Port Said Port and carried out in record time the spirit of challenge and mobilizing the daunting in order to facilitate the movement of marine navigation to East Port Said port, and the increase in demand for this promising port, doubling the capacity to become the main port in the Mediterranean Sea basin. The prime minister also expressed the desire to take advantage of this World Conference lead in bringing the viewpoints and exchange of opinion in an atmosphere of cooperation and taking into account the common interests of all parties, confirming: We Are Here partners for development and progress and prosperity of peoples of the world.

During the inauguration, transport minister expressed his hope to achieve the objectives of the Conference through the use of the global experience of participation and effective communication between all parties States and bodies and relevant stakeholders, within the framework of achieving the desired economic and social development in Egypt, and many investment opportunities, including what makes Egypt a trade center .

The Panel stressed that Mr. Mohab Mimesh in his speech stated that the conference attended by 15 countries, represents an opportunity to achieve effective communication between Suez Canal Authority and its collaborators, discusses the challenges facing Suez Canal and the transport sector, and the available opportunities in the channel. Memesh added that the east channel of Port will be opened in the last days of the congress and will contribute to the empowerment of the ships from entering the East Port Said port directly from the sea, without the need to enter the Suez Canal and contribute to reduce the waiting time for ships entering East Port Said port, which currently stands at 8. 10 hours ago, increasing competitiveness of East Port Said and shorten the time and cost, and he confirmed that there was a commitment to the completion of this project and this was the cause of the success achieved in record time did not exceed 3 months and 10 days.

It is worth mentioning that the conference would witness 9 meetings, the first meeting will discuss the theme 'Changes in the world economy and their impact on international commercial traffic' and the second meeting will discuss the theme 'Latest developments in the shipping industry', and the third meeting will discuss the theme 'The future of casting trade dry cleaning and the Suez Canal', while the last meeting will discuss the proceedings of the first day of the Conference 'The future of energy and the Suez Canal'. The second day will discuss the theme 'The future of containers and the Suez Canal', while the theme of second meeting will be 'Ways of alternative trade to the Suez Canal', and highlights the third meeting to focus on the draft 'Development of the economic area of the Suez Canal and the development of ports' and fourth meeting theme will be the 'Success stories of the administration and operation of the port', and concludes with the proceedings of the second day of the Conference to convene a debate on the theme 'Development of the shipping industry in Egypt'.

It also includes the activities of the Conference 4 workshops, the first under the title 'The requirements of the development of the Egyptian ports to shift to the ports of specialized in logistical services', and the second under the title 'The development of the Merchant Fleet of the Egyptian Maritime', and the third on 'Marketing policies of the Suez Canal' the Fourth about 'Companies of the Suez Canal Authority: the possibilities and challenges'. It is scheduled to conclude the Suez Canal Authority proceedings of the Conference on the third day of the order of the freedom of the participants in the conference to open a channel east of Port Said.
