Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker met with a delegation of Japanese Toyota Tsusho Company, the trading arm of the Toyota Group, to discuss means of activating memos of understanding signed during President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit of Japan in late February.
The meeting probed the two memos signed last month between the Japanese company and the Egyptian side, Shaker has said. One memo was signed with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company for the establishment of a coal-fueled 2,000-MW station for generating electricity and desalinating seawater and another 1,300-MW combined-cycle power station, the minister said. The other was signed with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company to build a power transformers station with a capacity of 500 KV. Toyota Tsusho was represented in the meeting by its vice president in addition to its Deputy Chief Division Officer of Machinery, Energy and Project Division Hideyuki Inazumi. |
