Director of the Middle East department at Egypt's General Authority for Investment Mounir Gomaa held a meeting with the Iraqi Business Council in Amman to discuss means of promoting investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Council chairwoman Abeer al Naeb said Iraqi businessmen are keen to invest in Egypt. The council was established late in 2006, and comprises 350 Iraqi businessmen and investors and has over 4,000 registered companies working in the different economic domains, mainly the oil, infrastructure and banking sectors, Naeb said. During the meeting, the Iraqi investors said the Egyptian market was one of the most important in the region and called for easing administrative measures to expand their investments in the agricultural field. Egypt welcomes Iraqi investments, the Egyptian official said at the meeting, noting that Egypt's real growth rate in 2014-2015 hit 4.2%. |
