PM Sherif Ismail held a meeting to review the final report for the committee concerned with the development of Egyptian cotton which is tasked with the elaboration of proposals and solutions that would promote the cultivation of cotton industry. This was in the presence of the ministers of agriculture, trade, industry, finance, and members of the committee and representatives of the various sectors of the textile industries.
At the beginning of the meeting, the PM said that the government gives attention to work on the development of the cultivation of cotton industry, according to the views of the studied scientific proposals of the committee on the development of the cultivation of cotton industry. The Chairman of the committee presented the problem with the decision of the PM for year 2015, a comprehensive report that includes 14 items including a profile of the current situation in the Egyptian cotton and verification for the reasons which led to the deterioration of cultivation of cotton industry, in addition to the views, proposals and solutions that would promote the cultivation of cotton industry. The report confirmed that the provision of clean seeds for the agricultural chart for cotton by ministerial resolution annually will adjust the system of production and circulation of seed multiplication. This will have a significant impact on the advancement of Egyptian cotton-agriculture industry. He also demanded the follow-up on the problems and difficulties facing the cotton producers, with the necessity of activating the role of cooperatives, the operation of the stalled investments to reduce the losses and recovery of industry again. The report also tackles new strategies to deal Egyptian cotton industry in the light of changes in the global transformations in the context of changes in export markets, the report also suggested the establishment of an entity that represents all the businessmen in the spinning and weaving industry. The report confirmed that taking urgent actions will have the greatest impact on the development of the cultivation of cotton industry with cotton cultivation in gatherings between (50- 100 acres). The control of the production system seeds will maximize the promotion of contract farming as well as the expansion in cultivating cotton tribal face in addition to activating the role of agricultural extension. It was decided during the meeting to follow up on the position of the cultivation of new types of cotton, export of long-staple cotton, and consideration of the demands of the factories to provide yarn and four million pounds research institute of cotton, authorizing him to prepare a comprehensive report on the new items cotton seed, in addition to opening origins to facilitate procedures of agricultural quarantine and reliance on local evaporation. |
