Egyptian President Abdelfatah Al-Sisi and his French counterpart Francois Hollande witnessed evening the signing of a number of documents on cooperation in several areas.
The two countries' ministries of defense signed a declaration of intent regarding cooperation in the space technology. The two countries signed a grant agreement by virtue of which the European Union will offer the Egyptian government EUR 68 million to provide homes with natural gas; the grant will be managed by the French Development Agency (AFD). The two sides wrote a EUR 50 million credit facility agreement to launch a regional arbitration center in delta. Under another agreement, EUR 60 million will be offered to Egypt to expand the sewage water treatment station in east Alexandria. The two sides signed a joint declaration on launching a wind power station in Suez Gulf, costing EUR 50 million, with a capacity of 200 megawatts. Egypt's Egygas and the French Engie Co. to launch a solar power station in South Sinai with a capacity of 40 megawatts. A EUR 80 million grant was also signed to finance the rehabilitation of Ramses-Heliopolis metro. The documents also include agreements on cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, vocational training, social protection, tourism and culture, as well as declaration of intent on joint organization of a grand exhibition on the history of Suez Canal in Paris in 2018. |
