![]() Egypt participates for the first time in the G20 trade ministers meeting, which kicked off early in Shanghai in China.
Chinese Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng inaugurated the two-day meeting. In a statement, Trade Minister Tareq Qabil, who leads the Egyptian delegation to the event, said inviting Egypt to such important international event is a key chance to contribute to forging the new global economic system and comprehensive and sustainable development plans. President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is scheduled to participate in the G20 summit that will be held in China in September, he said. The talks tackled means of boosting multi-party international trade system and enhancing the World Trade Organization (WTO) role in pushing forward international trade. During a session that was attended by WTO Director General Roberto Azevędo, Qabil stressed that the Egyptian government is interested in the multi-party trade system for the best interest of all member. states. He underlined the importance of giving momentum to ongoing trade talks to take decisions and tangible steps with a view to ending negotiations and start putting decisions into effect. |
