![]() The Cabinet, under Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, reviewed the work progress in a number of development projects in the Red Sea governorate, notably the social housing project.
In its weekly meeting, the cabinet was briefed on a detailed report, presented by the Red Sea Governor Ahmed Abdullah, on 23 projects currently being executed in different areas in the governorate. The total cost of the housing projects, expected to provide 6,432 units, is EGP 724.6 millions. Housing projects are planned to provide 977 residential units for slum-dwellers in an attempt to overcome the phenomenon of slums, the governor said. The governorate will witness the establishment of four other projects in the domains of drinking water and sanitation with a total investment cost of EGP 1.27 billion. With regard to the energy field, he said that four solar-powered stations were opened in various areas in the governorate. The four stations will contribute to reducing the consumption of natural gas used in generating electricity by about 50 percent, according to the governor. Also, the Red Sea governorate will see the establishment of two projects in the field of roads at a cost of EGP 633.3 millions, he added. Several other projects in the domains of education, health and youth and sports will be implemented in the governorate, the governor underlined. The total cost of the projects in the three fields will be estimated at about EGP 377 millions. |
