International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr met with a delegation of the World Bank (WB), currently visiting Cairo to follow up progress achieved in implementing a comprehensive program to fund social housing projects worth 500 million dollars.
The WB-funded program tops priorities of the Egyptian government, which is keen on improving the living conditions of citizens, particularly those most in need, Nasr said. The program will indirectly contribute to creating more jobs for youth, Nasr said, expecting it to secure some 1.5 million job opportunities in six years. So far, 53,000 families have benefited from the program, the WB officials said, adding that the aim is to serve more than 820,000 limited-income families by 2020. |
