 Minister of International Cooperation Sahar Nasr conferred with Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) Chairman Abdulatif Al Hamad on the fringe of her participation in the annual meetings of the World Bank in Washington.
A statement released by the Ministry said Nasr has asserted that Egypt was looking forward to develop its relations with AFESD, established in 1974. The two sides discussed the possibility of AFESD's particiaption in the establishment of an Islamic institution for funding of micro businesses in cooperation with the Islamic Bank for Development (IBD). Nasr also briefed AFESD's chairman that the Egyptian government was interested in establishing a green house project as part of a strategic plan to cultivate 1.5 million feddans nationwide. She invited AFESD to present a grant to Egypt to conduct a feasibility study on the cultivation of 100,000 feddans of green houses. The two sides also discussed future cooperation plans as AFESD contributed to 56 projects in Egypt from 1974 to 2015 with total investments of dlrs 4.78 billion. |
