 Egypt is considered the largest rice-producing country worldwide, said head of the Agriculture Research Center Abdel Moneim el Bana.
The Agriculture ministry, represented in the center, managed to develop new varieties of a number of strategic crops, especially the hybrid rice, he added during a speech that he delivered on behalf of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Essam Fayed in the sustainable agricultural development conference, which was organized by Faculty of Agriculture at Cairo University. Egypt started to expand in the organic and clean farming, which contributes to obtaining healthy food through safe ways that are free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers, he further said. The Agriculture Ministry is keen on raising the standard of living of the Egyptian farmer, he affirmed. |
