The Iraqi government made "good progress" in its bid to implement economic reforms and unlock billions in assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the institution said.
The IMF will consider the first review of the 36-month Stand-By Arrangement (SBA), which totals USD 5.34 billion - in November or December, it said. The SBA was first approved in July. Last week's "open and productive" meeting in Washington included Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) Dr. Ali Mohsen Ismail Al-Allaq, Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Fadhil Nabee Othman, Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi's financial adviser Dr. Mudher Saleh, and officials from the ministry of finance, the CBI, and a representative from the Kurdistan Regional Government, the IMF said. |
