The Cabinet ratified, during its weekly meeting, a bill floated by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the mutual recognition agreement adopted by member states of the Arab-Mediterranean Free Trade Agreement (Agadir Agreement).

Members of the Agadir Agreement are Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Jordan. The move comes within the framework of boosting the economic and trade relations between Arab and Mediterranean countries as well as developing means of joint cooperation through setting up free trade areas between the member states.

The cooperation includes granting customs privileges for economic operators in these countries, exchanging lists of authorized ones and taking necessary measures to facilitate customs control measures.

As for Egyptian-Japanese ties, the Cabinet approved a bill introduced by the president on exchanging letters between the governments in Cairo and Tokyo with regard to a Japanese grant of two billion Japanese yen to be provided for Egypt.

The Japanese grant is dedicated to carry out projects on supplying Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) with educational and research devices.

The Cabinet also approved a presidential draft law to reallocate 7,548 feddans of state-owned lands on Cairo-Aswan desert road near Qena to be used by the Upper Egypt's governorate as cemeteries.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet adopted the meeting minutes of the ministerial committee's session (no. 16 on October 11) on the settlement of investment disputes.
