President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, at a ministerial meeting, reviewed the progress realized so far in several national projects, including the national housing project, the new administrative capital and the 1.5 million feddan project.
The ministers of housing, agriculture and irrigation attended the meeting along with the heads of the Suez Canal Authority, the Administrative Control Authority and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said. During the meeting, Housing Minister Moustafa Madboly reviewed a report on his ministry's projects, noting that the ministry offered 6,000 housing units for rent for people whose monthly salaries are less than EGP 1,500 in the governorates of Ismailia, Suez, Beheira, Qalyoubia, Menoufiya, Damietta, Sohag, Qena and North Sinai. The ministry plans to offer additional 20,000 apartments for rent, he added. The minister noted that contracts of 511 housing units for low-income segments in Gharbiya were handed over to their owners several days ago. Housing units that are implemented as part of the social housing projects will be handed over soon, he said. Sisi urged expediting the social housing projects. The housing minister also reviewed the progress realized so far in establishing the new administrative capital and new cities nationwide. During the meeting, the head of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company expounded the progress realized so far in the 1.5 million feddan project. Sisi ordered giving priority to Nubia residents to own lands to be offered within the framework of the project in Tushka area. Sisi also ordered giving priority to Sinai inhabitants to own lands to be offered within the framework of the project in North and South Sinai. The president also ordered giving priority to Matrouh residents for land ownership in Maghara area, the presidential spokesman said. As for fish farming and building fishing ships, Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mameesh explained the authority's efforts to establish fish farming projects in eastern the Suez Canal in cooperation with Greece and Italy. The projects are meant to realize food security, increase fishing production and create jobs, he said. Meanwhile, Chairman of the National Company for Fisheries and Aquaculture Major General Hamdy Badin reviewed efforts to set up the biggest fishery in the Middle East in Kafr el- Sheikh. He noted that the project's first stage will be finalized to start production in July 2017. The head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority expounded the eastern Port Said projects, including establishing tunnels and an industrial zone. |
