 The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said that foreign investors continued to pump new investments in the government's treasury bills in January this year for the third month in a row after the pound was floated on November 5.
The existing deposits of the foreigners' investments in the Egyptian treasury bills rose to 21.7 billion pounds (1.15 billion dollars) in late January against 898 million pounds in October and 226 million pounds in January of 2016 The foreigners’ net purchases of the Egyptian treasury bills hit a new high in January since January 2011, it said . The foreigners’ subscriptions in the Egyptian treasury bills reached 11.5 billion pounds, which reflects the return of the international investors’ trust in the prospects of the Egyptian economy and its ability to overcome challenges, it noted. |
