President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that credible international reports indicate that the national economy is on the right track.
The remark was made at a meeting with the prime minister, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, the ministers of foreign affairs, interior, justice and finance and the head of the intelligence service along with the chairman of the Administrative Control Authority. The meeting reviewed general economic indicators, especially with regard to the country's foreign exchange reserve, which reached $26.3 billion for the first time in several years, covering the needs of Egypt's imports for six months, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said in a statement. The participants also reviewed the Gross Domestic Product indicators and its growth prospects in the coming period, in light of a recent report of Price Waterhouse Coopers International Foundation, which predicted that the Egyptian economy would rank 19th among the world's largest economies by 2030, with an economy size of more than $2 trillion (on the basis of purchasing power parity), and 15th by 2050, with an economy size of $4.3 trillion, the spokesman added. President Sisi said that credible international reports also indicate that the current comprehensive economic reform program is achieving its desired results, thanks to the courage and understanding of the Egyptian people as well as a climate of stability and security taking root in Egypt day after day. He added that maintaining stability of Egypt amid unprecedented turmoil experienced by the region is an enormous challenge and a great achievement to be preserved and strengthened. |
