 Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Qabil said that enforcing competition policies and laws is necessary to create a sound investment atmosphere in the country.
Ensuring free competition and preventing monopoly practices in the Egyptian market require the establishment and development of free competition rules and applications, the minister added in a speech to the closing ceremony of the institutional twinning project between the Egyptian Competition Authority and the European Union. The integration of competition protection and anti-monopoly practices as an economic component of the development strategy in the 2014 Constitution reflects the great importance the Egyptian State attaches to protecting competition as one of the basic pillars of growth and a key factor in creating a sound investment atmosphere and achieving comprehensive economic development, Qabil said. The Minister expressed his hope for continuing cooperation with the European Union in the competition protection field, which has a positive impact on increasing the competitiveness of Egyptian products and services in international markets and supporting the trade movement between Egypt and the European Union. |
